Embroidery Birmingham

Logo embroidery in Birmingham, stitched in-house

Embroidery on workwear, uniforms, polos, fleeces, softshells and caps, done on our own machines at Lindon House, Heeley Road, Selly Oak. Free mockup before you order, no minimum, UK-wide delivery.

Most companies selling embroidery in Birmingham are not embroidering anything. They take the order, send the garments to a trade decorator, and pass the result back to you with a margin on top. That is fine until something is wrong, at which point you are a customer of a company that is itself a customer of the people who actually did the work.

We have been stitching our own since 1999. The machines are in our building, which changes three practical things: we can put a test stitch on an actual garment before you commit, we can fix a colour or a placement without a courier round trip, and we can tell you honestly when a logo will not embroider well, because it is our machine that has to hold it.

What we embroider

Digitisation, and why your logo is not an embroidery file

An embroidery machine does not read a JPEG, a PNG or even a vector logo. It reads a stitch file: a set of instructions telling the needle where to go, in what order, in which direction, with which thread. Turning your artwork into that file is called digitising, and it is a skilled job rather than a file conversion.

It is also where most bad embroidery comes from. A badly digitised file puckers the fabric, fills in the gaps in small lettering and leaves gaps where the stitches should meet. It looks like the garment is at fault. It is not.

  • Digitisation is free on orders over £100, otherwise a one-off £15.
  • It is a one-off. Every reorder afterwards uses the same file at no extra cost.
  • The file is yours. We are not holding your logo hostage to keep your business.
  • We send you a mockup from the actual file before anything is stitched.

What embroiders well, and what does not

Artwork How it stitches What we do about it
Bold shapes, solid colours, clear type Excellent Straight to digitising.
Fine lettering under a few millimetres tall Fills in and turns to mush Enlarge it, simplify it, or drop the strapline.
Gradients and photographic detail Cannot be stitched Simplify to flat colours, or use DTF print instead.
Many close colours Muddy at chest size Reduce the palette. Usually improves the logo.
Very wide, thin logos Fine, but small Consider a nape or sleeve placement instead of chest.

We will tell you which of these applies to your logo before you pay for anything. If embroidery is the wrong method, we will say so and quote you the right one. Compare all four methods.

How it works

  1. Send the logo. Whatever you have. A photo of a business card is a fine starting point.
  2. We come back with a mockup and a price. Free, and it shows the logo on the actual garment at the actual size.
  3. We digitise and stitch a test where the job warrants it, so nobody is surprised by how it lands on the fabric.
  4. You approve. Placement, size and thread colours confirmed in writing.
  5. We stitch it here. Typically 5 to 7 working days from approval.

Frequently asked questions

Do you embroider garments I supply myself?

Sometimes, but ask first. We have to be confident the garment will take the stitch, and customer-supplied garments carry a risk we cannot underwrite if the fabric fails. In most cases it is cheaper to buy the garment from us anyway.

How much does logo embroidery cost?

Garment plus decoration, with digitisation free over £100 and £15 below it. Polos start at £4.69. Send your logo and numbers and we will price the whole job rather than quote you a stitch rate you cannot use.

Is there a minimum order?

No. One fleece for a new starter is a normal order here.

Will the embroidery survive a hot wash?

Yes. It is stitched thread, not a film on the surface, so 60°C washing and industrial drying do not lift it. That is the whole reason uniforms are embroidered.

Can you match my brand colours?

We match thread as closely as the range allows and show you on the mockup. Thread does not work like ink, so an exact match is not always possible, but a close one nearly always is.

Can you add names as well as the logo?

Yes, per garment. Common on care, hospitality and site teams.

How quickly can you turn a rush job around?

Ask us. Production is in the building, so the answer is sometimes days rather than weeks, but we will not promise a date we cannot hit.
