How your crew looks on site is the first thing a client, a main contractor or a site manager judges you on, and it is one of the few things about a job you can control before you turn up. Branded workwear does the obvious job of looking professional, but on a construction site it also does three quieter jobs: it tells everyone who is meant to be there, it keeps your name in front of the client for the whole duration of the build, and it stops your team turning up in whatever they found in the van.

We supply the garments and we brand them ourselves. Every embroidery machine and DTF press is in our Birmingham workshop, which matters on trades work more than most sectors, because your requirements change mid-job. A new labourer starts Monday, a subbie needs kitting out at short notice, or the client decides the logo should go on the back as well as the chest. Those are same-week problems when production is in the building.

Hi-vis, branding and EN ISO 20471

This is the part most suppliers gloss over. A certified hi-vis garment is certified because it carries a minimum area of fluorescent background material and retroreflective tape. Print or embroider over that material and you reduce the certified area. Put a large logo in the wrong place and the garment can drop out of the class it was sold as.

We size and place branding to stay within the limits for the garment's class rather than putting the logo wherever it looks best on the mockup. In practice that usually means a chest logo kept modest, back branding placed between the reflective bands rather than across them, and a conversation with you if what you want and what the garment allows are not the same thing.

Embroidery or print on site workwear

Embroidery is the default for construction, and for a good reason. It is stitched thread, so it does not peel, crack or fade the way a print can when a garment is worn hard, washed hot and dried fast. On a polo, fleece, softshell or beanie, embroidery will outlast the garment.

DTF printing earns its place where embroidery physically cannot go: detailed or multi-colour logos, gradients, large back prints, hi-vis vests where a stitched logo would perforate the fabric, and small runs where you do not want to pay a setup. DTF starts at £1.75 a print with no setup fee, ever.

• Embroidery digitisation is free on orders over £100, otherwise a one-off £15, and the file is yours.

Ordering for a crew

1. Send the logo and rough numbers. A photo of the van or a business card is enough to start.
2. We come back with a mockup and a price per person. Free, nothing to sign.
3. You approve artwork. Position, size and thread colours confirmed in writing.
4. We produce it here. Typically 5 to 7 working days from approval, 7 to 10 with delivery.
5. Reorders are quick. Artwork and thread colours stay on file, so a new starter's polo is a two-minute job.

No minimum order. One replacement polo or a full crew kit-out, both are normal here. For teams ordering regularly, a trade account gets better pricing and a named contact rather than a queue.

Frequently asked questions

Will branding void my hi-vis certification?

Not if it is sized and placed correctly. Decoration reduces the certified fluorescent and reflective area, so we keep the logo within what the garment's class allows. Tell us the class you need to hold and we will work to it.

Can you print on a hi-vis vest rather than embroider it?

Yes, and on most vests print is the better answer. Embroidery perforates a lightweight vest fabric and can pull; DTF sits on the surface, holds full colour and costs less on a vest.

How many do I have to order?

One. Unit price improves with quantity, but there is no minimum and no penalty for a single garment.

How long does it take?

Typically 5 to 7 working days in production from artwork approval, plus delivery. If your date is tighter than that, ask before you promise it to a client. Production is in our building, so the honest answer is usually available immediately.

Can you add names or job roles to individual garments?

Yes. Names, trades or roles can be added per garment alongside the company logo. It is common on larger sites where the main contractor wants everyone identifiable.

Will the branding survive a hot wash and a tumble dryer?

Embroidery will. Prints vary by garment and by how hard you treat them, and we will steer you away from print if we think your wash cycle will kill it.

Can you match workwear we already have?

Usually. Send a photo or the garment itself and we will find the closest current equivalent and match thread colours to your brand.
